Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Delhi and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Delhi—Manali (2,000m)
Transfer to the train station to catch the Shatabdi Express for Chandigarh 5 Continue by road to reach Manali 8. Overnight stay in a former English cottage.
Day 3: Manali
We’ll take it easy today, wandering through the bazaars of this charming town hidden among the pine trees.
Day 4: Manali
You’ll visit Old Manali and its surrounding villages.
Day 5: Manali—Jispa (3,300m) 7
We’ll drive up the Rohtang Pass (3,980m) and leave behind the greenery of the Kullu Valley to enter Lahul.
Day 6: Jispa—Darcha—Pa Lahmo (3,720m) 3
After a short drive, we’ll reach Darcha (3,300m) and meet our horsemen. Today it is a easy day with a gentle stroll through the villages of Lahul and its potato and pea fields.
Day 7: Pa Lahmo—Zanskar Sumdo (3,720m) 5
You’ll walk along the river Barai Nallah in the Kode valley (involves a few river crossings). A beautiful campsite awaits you on the river banks.
Day 8: Zanskar Sumdo—Chumiknakpo (4,500m) 5
Today we’ll go even higher. You’ll be surrounded by tremendous landscapes and peaks over 6,000m high. Chumiknakpo means ‘black spring’ in the local language.
Day 9: Chumiknakpo—Shingo La (5,000m)—Lakhang (4,300m) 6
We’ll gradually ascend to the top of the pass, where prayer flags float in the wind. Take in this breathtaking high-mountain scenery with snowy peaks on one side. On the Zanskar side, a mountain desert stretches out at your feet. We’ll go down and stroll through the fields of Himalayan blue poppy, edelweiss and gentian, then we’ll camp in the Lakhang meadow.
Day 10: Lakhang—Kargyak 5.30
Today, we’ll take an easy flat path, as we cross our first Zanskari village. You’ll enjoy a beautiful walk along the bottom of the majestic Gumburanjon cliffs. The valley opens up, letting you admire the changing colors of its rocks and lunar landscape. We’ll set up camp and shelter alongside a line of chortens.
Day 11: Kargyak—Kangsar (3,750m) 7
We’ll trek along the Kargyak Chu and discover several Zanskari villages, including Tanze and Kuru, with their traditional houses. Kangsar is a small hamlet, used as a rest stop by many trekkers.
Day 12: Kangsar—Phuktal—Kangsar 4.30
You’ll visit the extraordinary Phuktal monastery, built into the rocks, and rub shoulders with its charming monks. Enjoy a great day along the Tsarap river. We might spot Tibetan thars (mountain goats) today.
Day 13: Kangsar—Ichar (3,650m) 5
We’ll follow the boulders of the Tsarap river to reach the greenery of Ichar.
Day 14: Ichar—Mune (3,600m) 5-6
We’ll visit the alluring fortified village of Ichar and mingle with its hospital inhabitants. We’ll make an impressive descent into a canyon before arriving at the village of Mune and its boarding school. We’ll set up camp by a lake and visit the Mune Gompa in the afternoon.
Day 15: Mune—Pipiting (3,500m) 7
We’ll visit Bardan monastery and make our way to Pipiting via the village of Shilla, a less visited trail, where we can bathe in the waterfall. 
Day 16: Pipiting—Karsha (3,500m) 1.30
Today we’ll camp near the largest and most important monastery in Zanskar.
Day 17: Karsha—Rangdum (3,900m) 5
A bus will drive us to Rangdum and the beautiful Suru Valley via the Pensi La Pass (4,450m). We’ll visit the Rangdum monastery, perched on a high rock.
Day 18: Rangdum—Mulbeck (3,320m) 7 
We’re now very close to the Pakistan border and will pass through a series of traditional Balti villages to reach Mulbeck, where we’ll be back on Buddhist soil. We’ll discover the huge carved statue of Maitreya, the future Buddha. We'll celebrate with our staff our last camping night.
Day 19: Mulbeck—Leh
We’ll stop off at the Lamayuru monastery and Alchi museum, famous for its Kashmir frescoes, before we reach Leh.
Day 20: Leh
You’ll wander around the traditional bazaars of the old palace area.
Day 21: to Delhi Transfer to the hotel (a few rooms will be available for freshening up). We’ll visit Old Delhi and its Mughal monuments, including the Red Fort and red-stone mosques. Transfer to airport.
Best season: Mid-June to end-September
At certain dates, you can attend festivals in various monasteries. These dates change every summer. We’ll post them on our website in the latest news section.
