LANGTANG, THE LAST FRONTIER TO TIBET

Off-the-beaten track

               

This tour will take you to the Rasuwa Valley, which recently opened up to tourists, owing to its proximity to Tibet. Here, the local Tamangs still wear their traditional caps and costumes. Initially, you’ll stay in community lodges or homestays for an authentic and unique experience. Then, in the Langtang Valley, you’ll stay in Lodges.
Maximum altitude: 3920m or 4980m (optional)

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Guided visit of the Kathmandu valley.
Day 3: Kathmandu—Syabrubensi (1400m) 9
We set off early for our drive to Syabrubensi via Dunche (2000m).  
Day 4: Syabrubensi (1,400m)—Goljung (2,100m) 3
Today we have an easy day. Along our trail, we’ll walk up to our first Tamang villages.
Overnight stay in the community lodge.
Day 5: Goljung (2,100m)—Tatopani (2,600m) 5
Today we reach the hot springs.               
Day 6: Tatopani (2,600m)—Thuman (2,330m)  5.30
Today we’ll be rewarded with a magnificent panorama at Naghtali (3,100m). Overnight homestay.
Day 7: Thuman (2,330m)—Bridim (2,300m) 4
We’ll walk towards Timure, the last army check post before Tibet. We’ll be welcomed by Bridim villagers for our homestay.
Day 8: Bridim (2,300m)—Rimche (2,600m) 5
Today we’ll set off on the main Langtang trail.
Day 9: Rimche (2,600m)—Langtang (3,670m) 5.30
Now we’re gaining altitude. Langtang is the last village in the valley and is mostly populated by people who came over from Tibet in the 1950s with the Dalai Lama.
Day 10: Langtang (3,670m)—Kyangjin Gompa (3,920m) 3.30        
We’ll take a short hike to reach the Langtang sanctuary. In Kyangjin, we find a Monastery and a cheese factory. 
Day 11: Kyangjin Gompa 
Today you can take it easy and just explore. Or, you have the option of climbing Kyangjin Ri (4,980m), a small peak with 360° mountain views and panoramas of Langtang, Marimoto, Gauri Shankar, Shishapangma (8,000m) and the Ganja La Pass.
Day 12: Kyangjin (3,920m)—Rimche (2,450m) 4.30
We’ll descend via the forest.
Day 13: Lama Hotel—Syabru (2,350m)  5
We’ll walk through the terraced fields of Syabru, a traditional village with wood-carved windows.
Day 14: Syabru (2,350m)—Dhunche (2,030m)
We’ll reach Dhunche, the capital of the region, offering a beautiful view of the Langtang Lirung peak and the Ganesh Himal.
Day 15: Back to Kathmandu.
Day 16: Free time.
Day 17: Transfer to airport, with memories of an enchanting trip firmly etched in your mind.

***Roads in this region are very uncomfortable. Local buses are not always in very good condition. From 2 to 5, we offer you the option of hiring a Jeep.
